He has always prided and concerned himself with getting a fair and equitable deal for all parties involved. Jay has a large reservoir of happy and grateful clients, and many repeat clients, who continually come to Jay as their needs change over the years as well as many referrals, and has long term dealings with many domestic and international corporate relocation departments. He has been consulted about the real estate market by many sources over the years and has been quoted in the Time Out real estate issues. Jay started in Real Estate over 30 years ago. Working for Rodman Realty from 1976 to 1981. Where he was involved with the Greenwich Village renaissance. He then went to work for Gardner Realty from 1981 to 1990, with a hiatus when he left in 1982(to work on request of some international developers on commercial real estate conversions, commercial rentals, and building acquisitions). Then he moved on to Marc Lewis Realty from 1990 to 1994, City life Realty from 1994 to 2000, and Prince Properties from 2000 to 2007. It was at Gardner Realty where Jay first met and developed a long term and warm relation ship with Marc Lewis and later on Michael Simon. Over the years Jay has handled many different types of real estate and on a multiplicity of market conditions. He has worked out of offices in many locations in New York from the Upper East Side, Turtle Bay, Murry Hill, Greenwich Village, Midtown East, and Grammercy Park. Where he become not only intimately knowledgeable of those areas but also with most of Manhattan. Jay grew up outside Woodstock, NY in the 60s and from a young age he knew he was headed to New York City. After an expatriate experience living in Amsterdam, Holland in the early 70s moved back to Woodstock for a short while. He originally came to New York City to work for a recording studio specializing in Latin Music and running a dubbing room for films including the long delayed Oscar winning documentary "When we were kings". After this he worked in the Fashion industry for an Italian clothing company in the nascent field of designer blue jeans. Jay has traveled extensively through Asia over the last 20 years and his trekking in the Himalayas has been chronicled in Robert Thurman and Tad Wise' “Circling the sacred mountain". He is long time student of eastern philosophy, a great fan of Bob Dylan from the beginning in the early 60s, beat poetry, the post-bop jazz of Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Eric Dolphy, a veracious reader, loves foreign films and serious theatre. Jay is long time follower of the teachings of Mohandis Gandhi and Martin Luther King and has always stood up against injustice and for compassion.
